Opium Magazine held their first-ever music themed Literary Death Match last nite, Sept. 17th 2009, at the Bowery Poetry Club in the city. James, from Envoy Gallery, had asked a few weeks back if Tom Tom Magazine wanted to participate. Hell yes we did! Not only did we participate … we WON!!!

The featured readers included TOM TOM MAGAZINE’S Courtney Gillette (school-teacher by day and Tom Tom Magazine writer extraordinaire by night), James Gavin (Stormy Weather: The Life of Lena Horne), Jessica Hopper (The Girl’s Guide to Rocking), and Christopher R. Weingarten (@1000TimesYes) with an all-star cast of  judges including puppeteer-stress Carla Rhodes, editor Ben Schafer (DeCapo Press), and Franklin Bruno.
