Today, NYLON announces the first Babes All Rock Fest, presented by Brooklyn events promotion company Hi Tide. The festival features a lineup of women-led artists, “a who’s who of indie and underground musicians,” says NYLON, including Combo Chimbita, Prima, A Deer A Horse, Big Quiet, Debbie Downer, Verdigrls and more. Baby’s All Right will be hosting the full-day event on December 3rd, 2017.
Babes All Rock is a music festival designed to highlight the music being created by female-identifying individuals in New York City today. Almost every woman in a band has experienced being the outlier on a bill of all-male bands, and the world of rock music has historically been created and curated by men, for men. This imbalanced precedent in rock music motivated the fest’s creators to produce a day-long that festival celebrates the uniquely rich community of female musicians in NYC.
Female-empowering publications BUST Magazine and NYLON will be sponsoring the event, alongside industry partners Cigar City Management and Tell All Your Friends PR. 50% of the proceeds from the event will be donated to local communities of women in need, specifically the Mount Sinai SAVI program, which aids survivors of sexual assault in NYC. Guitar Center and Suffragette City, also event partners, have graciously donated goods for a raffle. 100% of the raffle’s proceeds will also go to the SAVI program.
