A number of Portland artists and musicians have been contributing Tom Tom Magazine. This January, we are excited to be holding a benefit show at Holocene for the magazine. A summary of the event is below.
Wednesday January 20: Tom Tom Magazine Drum & Art Show, Holocene.
Holocene presents an evening of art and performances featuring female drummers to benefit the next print issue of Tom Tom Magazine. Some of the Northwest’s most inspired female drummers have crafted drum solos and duos especially for this event. The lineup includes drum performances from:
Rachel Blumberg (M.Ward, Norfolk & Western) with Julianna Bright (Golden Bears)
Sara Lund (unwound, Hungry Ghost)
Tara Jane O’neil with Rachel Carns (Twin, The Need)
Emily Kingan (Lovers, The Haggard) with Emily Baker
LKN with Terrica (Palo Verde)
STLS (Lisa Schonberg of Explode into Colors and sts of The Haggard)
Ashey Spungin (Purple Rhinestone Eagle) with Justine Valdez (Lozen)
and the Brooklyn band Hot Box.
The evening will also feature an installation of portraits of female drummers, a slideshow, a drum video by Tiny Favorite and short documentary film about female drummers by Cat Tyc. Bring some extra cash if you can, because you can further support Tom Tom by purchasing a photograph, portrait, or buying raffle tickets to win drum gear donated by Revival Drum Shop!
We are also planning a similar all ages benefit for the following evening, Jan 21, venue tba, with a different lineup.
