How long have you been playing the drums?
A bit more than 2 years
Where do you shop for your drum gear?
I only own my sticks, mallets, tambourines and cymbals. I usually get them from a local shop “IS Music Team” here in Tallinn.
Who are your influences?
I love all Karin Dreijer Andersson’s oeuvre. Also any darker, repetitive and tribal vibes with a good beat.
What would you recommend to another drummer? a tip or technique?
I’d rather recommend anyone not drumming yet, but dreaming about it, to go for it! Just go and start playing! I had never sat behind a drum set before I went to the first band rehearsal and I still don’t know how to “classically” play drums. In the beginning I felt bad for it, but now I enjoy my style a lot and I’m happy to be free from classical rudiments! For me playing drums has been a total shift of disciplines from my daily profession – arts and fashion. Being out there for a live concert has been one of my greatest self-surmounting experiences, but I love the experience of creating music and the adrenaline I get from it! So anyone dreaming about drumming – go-go-go for the crazy dreams and don’t be hesitated by the giggling big guys in the music shop asking if you were a shaman while buying your stuff!
Gear wise – make your mallets look beautiful and cover them with some nice pieces of cloth! It helps to prevent the felt fall apart, they sound personal and they are so nice to look at while playing!
Your Top 10 albums:
I don’t listen to many albums and I rather go for a national radio talk shows or one current favorite track on repetition for dozens of times. But the top would be:
The Knife – Silent Shout Deluxe Edt. Live Performance
Fever Ray – Fever Ray
All of Joy Division
The Soft Moon – The Soft Moon
A dark mix-tape by a good friend
Florence and the Machine – Lungs
Tehnoloogiline Päike – Kõige pikem päev
