Trophy Wife smash conventions in All the Sides

The latest compositions by Trophy Wife begins with a chamber rock chorale of  “no warning” in “Breakdown” along with structured metallic clangs and minor key orchestration reminiscent of Fugazi era discordance, which makes sense since both spent time playing in the DC scene.

Sharing spoken texts, vocals, and songwriting, Philadelphia’s Katy Otto (drums) and Diane Foglizzo (strings) raise campfire signals in “It Comes In Waves (Neil Young),” an homage rather than a cover that will appeal to both fans of the Spells and heartland heroes. Heavily instrumental, the eight songs master complicated and deliberate time sequences, crashing in hard after operatic pauses.

All the Sides will be released this December on CD by SRA Records and on tape by Dead Tank.
