Mickey’s goal as a teacher is to equip the student with the technical skills, personal motivation, and creative tools to discover and develop their own voice on the instrument. She guides students towards reaching their own musical goals while also helping to influence, inspire, and expose students to new ideas, techniques, and styles. Students learn all the technical skills they need to express themselves on the instrument by developing a strong practice routine, setting goals, and applying skills creatively by playing along with songs, creating their own ideas based on examples, and “jamming” in lessons.
Whether you’re a beginner with no previous experience in music, an intermediate looking to take your playing to the next level, or an advanced student interested in expanding your vocabulary and focusing on specific skills, Mickey will design a personalized lesson plan and practice routine to keep you inspired and moving forward. www.mickeyvershbow.com

She says, “I love to see people achieve something they never thought was possible. That transformation I see everyday in my students is just as much of a thrill for me as it is for them. I’ve had students hug me with tears in their eyes after playing their first show, saying, ‘Thank you, thank you,’ and I can say with all honesty, there’s not much in the world that’s better than that.”
While JJ teaches all ages and genders, she especially encourages women to learn. Most of JJ’s students are women in their 40s and 50s who had never previously touched a drum set.
