In December 2015, Ace Hotel worked with Martin Guitar and with yours truly at Tom Tom Magazine to bring together some of the most badass performers on the scene. The special performance showcased Harsh Crowd and Mirah as part of the Ace and Martin collaborative music series, 5 at 5. While Ace and Martin continued the tradition of inviting their favorite artists to perform an intimate five-song set at 5 pm in one of Ace Hotel’s iconic spaces, they teamed up with the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls to make this one extra special.
WMRC is the program where the four 13-year-olds of Harsh Crowd met two summers ago and have since risen through the ranks to perform at venues across New York, opening for acts like Sharon Van Etten. Veteran musician Mirah and her bandmate Maia Macdonald joined the girls for several coaching sessions late last year, culminating in the performance at Ace Hotel New York on December 12.
