Laura Hatfield, of Collapsing Opposites and drum coach at Girls Rock Camp Vancouver, has been hosting exhibitions on her drums for almost two years now. The premise, she says, is pretty simple: “I invite artists to make work that can be exhibited on the kit and then I bring their work to shows or on tour with my band Collapsing Opposites.”
Projects have ranged from sculptural additions, custom made shoes for the kick drum spurs, relational/audience surveys, performance/photography, paintings, and stop motion animations projected on the front of the kick drum!
